The Upper Westside Community Improvement District (UWCID) seeks proposals from Atlanta professional visual artists to adorn metal signal cabinet boxes with original painted artworks. The UWCID has identified five (5) City-owned signal cabinet boxes and is seeking professional visual artists to paint them with 2-D, artworks by Summer 2020.

The goal of the Signal Cabinet Project is to reclaim this space in the public right-of-way for public art and enhance the character of this District.

Project Timeline

May 25: Proposals due by 4PM

May 29: Selected artists will be notified by 4PM

June 10: Artist mock-up of proposed signal cabinet art due by 4PM including list of desired Golden Fluid Acrylic paint.

June 12: Artist orientation re: expectations and materials

June 24: Artists pick up paint and can begin  

July 6: Cabinet art and priming should be completed (subject to change through COVID-19)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN as provided in the City of Atlanta Community Improvement Act, 1991 GA. Laws pp. 3653 et seq. (“Local Act”), that a Caucus of Electors for the Westside/Howell Mill Community Improvement District (“CID”) will convene on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at The Works, 1296 Chattahoochee Ave NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30318 for the purpose of electing three (3) board members for the CID. Registration for the election will begin at 11:00 a.m. and conclude at 11:15 a.m. Immediately thereafter, the election caucus will convene and voting will begin.  Pursuant to Governor Brian Kemp’s Executive Orders and O.C.G.A. Sec. 50-14-1, both teleconference and Zoom attendance is available in addition to in-person as a result of the COVID-19 public health emergency.  The District fully encourages public participation in a safe and efficient manner.  Toward that end, anyone wishing to listen and participate in the Caucus of Electors can also do so via teleconference and/or Zoom as follows;

A map of the Westside/Howell Mill CID is on file with the Clerk of the Atlanta City Council. All Electors or their duly designated representatives, as defined under the Local Act, are invited to attend and cast their votes. No proxy votes may be cast.

The CID will convene a meeting of its Board of Directors immediately following the Caucus of Electors to elect officers and conduct any business that may come before the Board by the aforementioned methods of communications media technology.


Upper Westside Improvement District Board of Directors meetings are normally held every 3rd Wednesday of the odd months of the year (Jan, Mar, May, July, etc) at 11:00 am at The Works, 1295 Chattahoochee Ave NW, Atlanta, GA 30318.
