Crossing Beacon on Howell Mill Rd at Brady Ave

How it’s shaping the Upper Westside

Scanning Howell Mill Road for a gap in the cars to dart as quickly as possible across the multiple lanes of traffic is now a thing of the past at Brady Avenue. The intersection now boasts a 17-foot-tall mast-arm with multiple flashing yellow lights that are instantly activated at the touch of a push-button located at street level. This Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon (RRFB) makes the intersection safer for pedestrians and drivers alike.

This project required the collaboration of neighboring property owners, the Upper Westside Improvement District, and the City of Atlanta, with contributions from Toll Brothers and Allen Morris Company.
