Upper Westside CID is pleased to have a new neighbor and partner in real estate investment firm Asana Partners, new owner of Brickworks at the junction of Marietta Street and Howell Mill Road. The Charlotte-based firm announced in January that it has acquired the development from Midtown West Associates. Asana also owns multiple properties in Atlanta’s Eastside, including the famed Krog Street Market, Stove Works, and the Plaza Theatre and Majestic Diner.
The mixed-use portfolio of retail and office buildings, spanning 194,000 square feet of leasable space, fits well with Asana’s business model of focusing exclusively on adaptive reuse projects. The Brickworks development, consisting of numerous former warehouses and loft-style buildings dating to the 1880s, is considered one of the major catalysts behind the Westside’s growth, helping to attract businesses to West Midtown. Asana plans to retain the creative office space at Brickworks while also evaluating and rethinking the development’s potential. In February they announced the addition of a “barcade” entertainment concept.
Like Westside Provisions owner Jamestown, Asana Partners is committed to retaining the cool and unique character of the Westside. The firm’s management will seek to preserve the property’s industrial heritage while introducing new dining and retail concepts that will provide authentic consumer experiences unique to the Upper Westside
