This month, we wanted to shine a spotlight on Nick and Carl, the Upper Westside maintenance crew. While some of the work done by the CID is inside an office, our maintenance crew is a vital part of the district’s operations.

Carl heads the Upper Westside’s maintenance team. His long career as a construction foreman and his passion for gardening have made him the jack of all trades the CID relies on daily. He even helped build Stockyards and Ponce City Market!  Be sure to visit his favorite spot in the Upper Westside, the Waterworks Greenspace at Northside Dr & 17th.

Nick is the second half of our maintenance team. He spent many years as a mechanic for UPS and makes sure our Upper Westside truck is a well oiled machine so they don’t miss a single day in the field. He recommends trying the Tikka Masala taco from Velvet Taco.

Our maintenance crew supplements city services by picking up litter, emptying trash cans along Howell Mill and at MARTA bus stops, and performing other miscellaneous tasks around the district. They submit  311 requests for city maintenance, address broken limbs at the Waterworks greenspace, and even oil the deck at the Brady Pocket Park twice a year!

If you see Carl and Nick be sure to say hi, or give them a wave if you see our Upper Westside work truck out and about!
