Progress you can see, places worth exploring, and what’s coming next.

Huff Linear Green is Coming Together
Our CID has the mantra of showing progress through incremental improvements; in this case thanks to our strong partnership with the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management, we secured the right to open up the land to the community in 2023. Even before we had a line of sight on funding improvements, we mobilized to push back the fences and limb up the trees.
Thanks to the community’s response to our “What Would You Like to See Here” Billboard in 2024, we were able to put together a plan for the greenspace.

In 2025, Friends of Waterworks received a Legacy Grant from Park Pride to carry out the designed improvements.
We’re now in the process of selecting an engineer to complete construction plans for a sidewalk on the north side of Huff Road and a widening between The Mill apartments and Howell Mill Road.
We’re steadily advancing towards creating a walkable and bikeable District that’s teeming with greenspaces and pocket parks. Thanks for cheering us on every step of the way!

Atlanta Is on the List. The Upper Westside is on the Move
The New York Times just named Atlanta one of five great North American biking cities, crediting what one longtime resident called a “real evolution” in how people move through the city. The momentum is spreading beyond the Beltline, thanks to CIDs and PATH Foundation to truly create a network of connected facilities that get you where you want to go!
Since 2022, our District has seen protected facilities be added to Brady Ave, Howell Mill Rd, and 10th St and this month our CID has broken ground along West Marietta St to connect The Spur trail to the Brady Cycle Track. Additionally the Woodall Rail trail, The Spur trail and the Beltline have come online with the Silver Comet Connector delivering in 2027.
With all the new miles of safe infrastructure, we hope you’ll begin exploring the area biking, scooting, or rolling and tag us @upperwestsideatl

Coming This Fall: Westside Stride
Mark your calendars: Westside Stride returns on Sunday, November 8, and it is back bigger than ever thanks to a partnership with Atlanta Streets Alive. Howell Mill Road closes to cars and opens to the community for a full afternoon of food, music, and neighborhood energy.
If you are a local maker, business, food truck, or nonprofit, here is your early notice: vendor applications open June 26. This is one of the Upper Westside’s signature events and spots fill up. Get your application in early.

Business Spotlight: Crossover Entertainment Group
Did you know one of Atlanta’s most legendary music spaces has been hiding in plain sight in a brick warehouse on Ellsworth this whole time? Meet Crossover Entertainment Group. Since 1992, this homegrown talent booking and rehearsal space has quietly hosted some of the biggest names in the business. Allman Brothers, Usher, Aretha Franklin, Lil’ Kim. The list goes on and the walls could tell some stories. Some neighborhoods have coffee shops. This one has icons.
