Big projects are wrapping up, new ones are beginning, and your community input is shaping what comes next.

MASTERPLAN REFRESH

The Upper Westside has seen major transformation across private development and public infrastructure over the past several years. Since the 2021 Masterplan, our CID has had its marching orders on capital projects to advance and we’re thrilled at the momentum with many of the district’s key infrastructure and mobility projects completed or nearing completion.

We are now focused on the next phase of planning and investment for the community. Earlier this month, we heard from community members at two the Masterplan Refresh pop-ups which will help shape future priorities for the district.

You can participate by taking a few minutes to share your input on the next wave of capital projects HERE before June 2nd.

If you were unable to attend the meeting, there is still time to participate. Community feedback remains an important part of the process, and we encourage residents, business owners, and stakeholders to share their input here.

PROJECTS TAKING SHAPE ACROSS THE DISTRICT

Ongoing CID infrastructure projects:

10th Street Cycle Track construction is now complete, adding another key multimodal connection through the district to Georgia Tech and beyond.

17th Street sidewalk improvements are complete, creating safer and more accessible pedestrian connection between the Upper Westside and Atlantic Station including pedestrian lighting (not yet installed in the after photo).

Westside Thrive RAISE project – The CID will begin procuring the engineering design contract for the 3-miles of new multimodal facilities between Georgia Tech, Shirley Franklin Park, and Joseph E Lowery Blvd. Engineering firms should visit www.upperwestsideatl.org/notices for more information.

FIFA Fever Comes to the Upper Westside

This summer, the Upper Westside will join the excitement surrounding FIFA World Cup 2026.

The Works will host “All The Soccer Things,” an eight-week series of watch parties, live entertainment, community programming, and family-friendly events.

From outdoor match screenings to themed activities and local partnerships, the series will bring fans together throughout June and July as Atlanta welcomes the world to the city.

Culture Haus (hosted by The Interlock) will herald the summer of soccer with daily experiences including watch parties on the plaza and rooftop, fan givaways, curated match-day experiences, community gatherings, and programming tied to the summer’s international soccer celebrations. Alongside the match-day atmosphere, Interlock will continue hosting fitness classes, live music, family-friendly activities, outdoor gatherings, and community programming throughout the month.
