UPDATE: Now extended through SEPTEMBER!
Need a place to take the kids for some homeschooling “recess”? Preferably where they can burn off some energy while you enjoy the air conditioning? Visit our Masterplan Workshop any day this month (in Suite 110 of The Works on Chattahoochee Ave), and check out our Kids’ Traffic Garden and Cycle Track!
What’s a Traffic Garden? We’ve laid out “roads” in a cycle track on the floor of our Workshop, which kids can ride on bikes, scooters, rollerblades, or skateboards. (We have a few kids’ bikes, scooters, and helmets available, or you can bring your own.) Kids can practice the rules of the road as they learn to observe stop signs, crosswalks, one-way signs, and even railroad crossings.
We aim to provide a fun break for adults as well as kids! Everyone is invited to walk through our exhibit on the history of the Upper Westside, learn about our Community Improvement District, and participate in our masterplan process to decide the area’s future. The workshop is a community space created for you to participate in planning greenspace, trails, and transportation improvements through a series of interactive activities. Enjoy our gallery wall of exclusive Upper Westside photography, while also getting a sneak peek inside The Works!
The Upper Westside Workshop is FREE and open weekdays 10am-6pm and weekends 10am-4pm for the entire month of August. Inside the space, we are practicing social distancing and ask that everyone wear masks. Masks, disinfecting wipes, and hand sanitizer stations are available.
