Now Under Construction: 17th Street Sidewalk Improvements
The Upper Westside CID has officially begun construction on the 17th Street sidewalk project, a major step forward in improving walkability and connectivity within the district.
Funded through the City of Atlanta’s Moving Atlanta Forward program, this project will deliver a new, ADA-compliant concrete sidewalk between Howell Mill Road and Northside Drive and is scheduled for completion in May.
This long-requested improvement creates a critical pedestrian connection between two of the Upper Westside’s most valued public spaces—The Hill and Waterworks Greenspace—making it safer and easier for residents to walk between key destinations.
📍 Location: 17th Street (Howell Mill Road to Northside Drive)

Help Shape a Future Public Art Project
The Underwood Hills neighborhood is currently gathering community input to inform a proposed mural project in the district.
Residents and stakeholders are invited to share feedback on three different design concepts that reflect the character and future of the Upper Westside. Input collected through this survey will help guide the project design as it moves forward through a grant application process and GDOT permitting.

As work begins on 17th Street, you’ll start seeing tangible improvements connecting our two greenspaces and serving as a gateway into our district!
